Green woodland Oasis – Chapel Allerton

These clients were looking for a green, plant-focused, oasis amidst the bustle of Chapel Allerton village.  The existing trees lent a mature and informal character to the space whilst the reed bed took up a large area meaning that there was little space for relaxing.

A new brick path leads downslope from the house, across a simple bridge over the reed bed to a circular paved area of slabs perfect for catching the sun.  Beyond this the path leads deep into the shady woodland.  Not just bright flowers but leaf textures and colours – broom, Japanese acer, copper beech- lend an air of tranquillity, and there is plenty of room for wildlife too.

Project cost: under £20k
